Why did you join The Group?
I joined Edrington in 1985 after completing an engineering apprenticeship with one of our glass bottle suppliers. I was looking for a fresh challenge with career opportunities and this aim has been fulfilled many times over.
What have you been involved in?
I have worked in a wide variety of roles within the organisation, ranging from a production line engineer, production team leader and to my current role as manufacturing improvement manager.
What does your current role involve?
In my present role, I am involved in large engineering projects, optimisation of production processes and management of the engineering stores and the fork-lift truck fleet. This variety of work ensures that I am constantly presented with fresh opportunities for making a personal contribution to the business. There are a great number of employees in the business with long service and it is easy to understand why when you become part of the "Edrington family".
What is the "Edrington family"?
The organisation positively promotes individuals to be involved and innovative and invests heavily in personal development. I have received lots of training over the years and was fully supported by the organisation when studying and completing an MSc in manufacturing management and technology. It is this investment in me, by The Group, that has made my working life so rewarding.
Why do people stay with the organisation?
Why should they leave when fresh challenges are presented continually in an organisation that invests in new technology and people to ensure it is competitive and know full well that their efforts in making a positive contribution to the business is given full support.
All of this, together with the "personal touch", every employee has the opportunity to discuss issues with the Chairman at his briefing "road shows", ensures that you feel a real part of a successful organisation.
